According to Deadline, Jack Dylan Grazer from It has been cast as Freddy, Billy Batson's best friend who knows his thunderous secret.

Captain Marvel was created by C.C. Beck and writer Bill Parker back in 1939 and first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 a year later.

In "Shazam", Deadline reports, Grazer will play Freddy, best friend to Billy Baston (Asher Angel), the teen who can transform into an adult superhero by saying "Shazam". In the comic books, Freddy has also assumed the identity of Captain Marvel, Jr., as well as Captain Marvel/Shazam. The film is being produced by New Line Cinema in conjunction with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. He recently confirmed that the target release date for the film is April 2019.

David F. Sandberg is directing from a script written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. The Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director will step behind the camera with Peter Safran producing.

Grazer was among the young actors to break out with this summer's It, in which he played the hypochondriac member of the Losers Club, Eddie Kaspbrak. The film is being developed concurrently with a project focusing on Shazam! villain Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson.
