With GoT nearing its end, a lot of people are thinking that Westworld is HBO's way of finding a new "masthead" series.

Season 2 is now in production, but news has it that filming has been halted due to the state of California wildfires.

This season of Southern California wildfires continues to be fucking brutal and among the worst the state has ever experienced.

An estimated 38,000 people have been asked to evacuate from the region, officials said Tuesday.

Both series film in Santa Clarita, which is experiencing the 500-acre Rye Fire, prompting the closure of the 5 Freeway in both directions.

The show's shut-down was prompted by air quality concerns, according to a statement posted to Twitter from the show's writers.

The fires broke out in California on Monday night.

"Due to nearby wildfires, "Westworld" stopped production earlier today and will resume filming as soon as it's safe to do so", read a statement from HBO.

CBS suspended the production for "S.W.A.T." for safety reasons as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

One of the writers for S.W.A.T. tweeted that the safety of the cast and crew are of utmost importance to them, which is why they chose to not push through with their shooting schedule. "Prayers to all affected by these fires", it continued.

The Rye Fire is the closest of the four active fires in the Los Angeles area to the sets.
