Shortly before 7 a.m., the California Highway Patrol closed the entire 405 Freeway between the Ventura (101) Freeway and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, along with on-ramps and off-ramps and freeway transition roads in the affected area. Residents for the area east of the 405, Mulholland to the North, Sunset to the South and Rosomare to the East were warned to prepare for an evacuation.

According to Curbed LA, the fire began at 4 a.m. burning 150 acres. It remained unclear whether any structures had been damaged or destroyed in the fire.

Los Angeles Fire Dispatcher Margaret Stewart said the fire could grow with winds blowing at over 25 miles per hour. Firefighting crews were setting up on the southbound side of the 405 to prevent the fire from jumping the freeway, and northbound vehicles were being turned back. In October, more than a dozen fires blazed through the northern part of the state, burning thousands of acres along the way.

More than 125 city firefighters were on scene and the LAFD was being assisted with an additional helicopter from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to Stewart. 220 Firefighters on scene.

"We expect to be out here all week fighting and containing this fire", Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said.

Moraga Estate, the only working winery in Bel-Air and home of Twenty-First Century Fox and Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch, appears to be the latest casualty of wildfires spread by the Santa Ana winds in Southern California. Along with the lack of much-needed rain, the Santa Ana winds have made it very hard to contain and put out the fires. Los Angeles Mission College's Main Campus at 13356 Eldridge Ave. and the East Campus at 12890 Harding St., both in Sylmar, were closed for the day, but there was no immediate word if classes would resume today.
