As per a particular law in Sri Lanka, a team has to get the sanction of the sports minister.

Last week, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had named all-rounder Thisara Perera as one-day captain in place of Upul Tharanga. Earlier in a dramatic action, Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera ordered all nine players boarding to India last night to disembark the plane as they were leaving the country without his approval. Which is why Malinda Pushpakumara, who was scheduled to replace Rangana Herath for the third Test against Delhi, was not conidered and as a result, Jeffrey Vandersay had to be flown in.

Test captain for the ongoing series Dinesh Chandimal along with batsman Kusal Perera have been dropped from the ODI squad.

The visitors will play a three-match ODI series starting on December 10 at Dharamsala. "They have now received the necessary clearance and will leave for India tonight", Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara told Cricbuzz.Earlier, in a amusing turn of events Lankan players were stopped to fly to India for the ODI series that begins on December 5.

However, Kusal Perera and all-rounder Asela Gunaratne have returned to the one-day worldwide squad for the series against India. Gunaratne was back in the side for the first time since being injured in July while playing India in Galle.

Perera, Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Asela Gunaratne, Chathuranga de Silva, Sachith Pathirana, Dushmantha Chameera, Suranga Lakmal and Nuwan Pradeep were the players who had to delay their departure to India.

Former skipper Angelo Mathews has also returned to the side after missing the last ODI series against Pakistan through injury.
