Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has confirmed the show will go on for House of Cards, despite leading man Kevin Spacey's sexual misconduct scandal. Reports at the time said that the writers were looking for a way to kill off Spacey's character and continue on with the show's final season without Frank Underwood. Many fans suggested moving forward with Robin Wright and that seems to be exactly the direction Netflix has chose to take.

"We were really excited we could get to an agreement" and wanted to provide "closure to fans", he said, Variety reported.

House of Cards fans may finally have some answers after weeks of uncertainty about the the future of the Netflix series.

The production of series has been suspended since last October 31 after first allegations of sexual abuse by Spacey were known. The season will contain eight episodes and bring a "good, creative conclusion" to the series, Sarandos said. Sarandos said he was gratified to have reached the deal for the team of 370 people who directly work on the show and for "the 2,000 people in Baltimore" who have jobs working on "HOC". Now production will remain on hiatus into the new year.

The Oscar victor was subsequently fired from the show, sparking rumours suggesting that would mark the end for House of Cards. A number of options were posed-including killing off Spacey's Frank Underwood-but it marked a hard task as Spacey was the lead of the Netflix series.

All of Spacey's scenes were also erased from the upcoming film All the Money in the World, in light of the allegations made against Spacey.

There's no word on when Season 6 will premiere but given the delay, it might not be complete until Fall or Winter 2018.

The series ended season five with Wright's Claire Underwood as president and unwilling to pardon her husband as originally planned.
