And lest anyone think Woods wasn't looking at the scoreboard.

"Anything that I did right ended up in a bad spot, and then anything I did wrong it was really bad", Woods said.

Many wondered how Woods would do in his first tournament in almost 10 months following spinal fusion surgery and the answer was a positive one, especially on the final day. He lipped out a short putt on the 18th hole for par.

"When I was struggling with my back, the world seemed very small".

"I hit some really good shots out there (and am ready for) a bright future. and no pain".

The American opened with a 12-foot birdie at the first and added further gains over his next three holes, before continuing the run by chipping in from a greenside bunker at the par-four fifth.

The troubles for Woods started early yesterday morning as he took bogeys at the first and third holes before further miscues at six and seven saw him post a four-over 40 for the front nine.

Tiger Woods shot a 75 on Day 3. Both of his over-par scores came on par-5s, which he played in 1 over, clearly an aspect of his game that he will need to improve.

The golf superstar has made only a handful of appearances in the past two years after back problems forced him to miss the entire 2015-2016 season and despite the frustrations of Saturday's round Woods said he was enjoying his return.

He admitted that was "frustrating because I have a hard time with this into-the-grain, ball sitting down". That is different animal, but given the way he looks now, the rhythm of his swing looks good, he's not jumping off the ground trying to hit it and he's generating some power. "I haven't quite figured it out yet". Woods shot a 5-under 31 on the front nine Sunday, but he bogeyed his last two holes to finish with a 4-under 68.

"These guys have been playing all year, they've been playing well, and if they make a few bogeys, who cares, they can make seven or eight birdies a day, especially on a golf course like this". The two have played several rounds near their homes in South Florida, but this was the first time they had ever played in a tournament. "But again, I am most happy to see him healthy".

"I hit the most lovely three wood that went 300 yards in the wind". "So there are a lot of positives". He looks to hold off Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth, who trail five strokes behind.
