The Patriots got off to a slow start in the first half when the Bills held them to just three field goals. White was out of bounds, the play was dead and yet Gronk bodysurfed him, a move for which he was flagged for unnecessary roughness. The Bills Jerry Hughes was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, so, somehow, the Bills were the ones losing yards on the play.

Gronkowski apologized for his actions after the game.

Gronkowski and New England coach Bill Belichick each have since apologized for the 6-foot-7, 265-pound star tight end's poor judgment. I can't tell. He is not known for that, so who knows? I was just really frustrated at that moment.

Buffalo will face New England again in just two short weeks and given the way their season has spiraled downward, the Bills may decide to take their frustrations out in the form of retaliation on Gronkowski.

"I kind of felt like he pushed me a little bit and made the play, and I just don't understand why there wasn't a flag", Gronkowski said of the play. "It was unfortunate, and I know he's a better player than that". "I don't really believe in types of shots like that". "And just a couple times during the game, and they're calling me for the craziest, craziest stuff ever". It just happened natuually through emotions and frustration.

The Patriots won the game 23-3.
