It was detailed that a film starring "several" of Dc's female heroes and villains was in the works, but it appears as though we might be getting an entirely separate Harley Quinn film as well.

Margot Robbie has revealed that she is working on a Harley Quinn spinoff that will be separate from the other DCEU projects in development. "Honestly, I don't think anyone knows what's going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone is keen to get Harley back onscreen so everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be". I mean, it's hard to kind of talk about it because all of this stuff is kind of like under lock and key.

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn left quite an impression on moviegoers (and Warner Bros. executives) a year ago.

MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with Margot Robbie, who was promoting his Oscar-buzzy movie I, Tonya, which she stars in and produced.

During the interview, after stating that she can't say too much about the film, Robbie did say that no one has a solid idea as to what big thing is coming next in that film universe. And when she was pressed on whether this is the same project as either Gotham City Sirens or the Harley/Joker movie, she was firm: "No".

Although the latter statement could be taken as referring to the Gotham City Sirens project, due to the comic book featuring Harley, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and others, but Robbie confirms this project she's talking about is seperate from that. I kept saying when we were shooting Suicide Squad, 'She needs her girlfriends. And when it comes to Harley Quinn and all of the other badass women in Batman's rogues gallery, there's a lot of potential. It seems like it's best for Warner Bros.to ideal their craft instead of tacking on even more projects on their already-hefty plate.
