Today Google announced Datally, a smart and simple Android app that helps smartphone users understand, control, and save mobile data.

Google on Thursday introduced its new Datally app that lets you monitor and save mobile data.

Based on your own activity, the app will also suggest how you can cut down or suggest nearby Wi-Fi networks for you to connect to.

Despite its intended target audience, Datally sounds useful for anyone with throttled "unlimited" mobile data plans in the USA and other developed nations, as well.

While virtually all of Datally's functions are available through Android's settings menus, the app makes data management easier, particularly for less tech-savvy users.

Datally helps solve one of the biggest pain points for smartphone users around the world - worries about data usage.

The app displays a bubble in the notification area of the device that informs you about the apps that used mobile data, and lists an option right there to turn it off.

Google is been testing Datally in Philippines for the past few months, and people are saving up to 30 percent on their data.

Save Data: Thirdly, it helps you save data. The menu should also show data usage by application, which should provide some insight into what apps are eating more than their fair share of the data pie.

Help Android users better control data.

Datally is part of offering Google's Next Billion Users division, which is focused on making internet services more accessible in countries that have limited technology infrastructure.

The app will lend you a bird's eye view of which other apps are using your data to the limit.

It was the first time in Pakistan's history that Google launched an application at the same time as all the other countries which shows Pakistani market's growing importance for Google, said Tania Aidrus, chief of staff of Next Billion User project. Majority offer options to turn off a feature or service to lessen needed data to load.
