Why Conor McGregor May Be in Trouble With the Irish Mafia

Rumor: Conor McGregor Allegedly Involved In Dublin Bar Fight Dana White: 'Conor McGregor may never fight again'

Jose Aldo and Tony Ferguson have both been vocal about wanting the UFC to put pressure on McGregor to either defend his title or vacate because it's been nearly two years since he knocked Aldo out for the featherweight championship.

The "Notorious" one followed that up with a "money fight" against Floyd Mayweather in August.

White has questioned whether the 29-year-old will have the motivation to return to MMA, considering how well off he now is financially.

"Listen, the punishment, he was being dealt with by the head of the ABC and regardless of what Audie (Attar) says, we were working on a fight for him for the end of the year". The guy's got a f****** $100 million.

"I've got guys who've made less than that, or lawyers who went to school all their life and quit working". Fighting is the worst - try to get up and get punched in the face every day when you have $100 million in the bank. You know? Money changes everything, with a lot of people.

Goddard ordered McGregor out of the cage - the second time he's had words with the Irish star over his cageside demeanor - only to have McGregor curse him out and shove him as officials tried to calm the situation.

Another potential and risky opponent for the Irishman is Khabib Nurmagomedov, who fights Edson Barboza at UFC 219 on December 30.

But if you believe the wild reports coming out of Ireland right now, McGregor could also be facing some serious trouble as a result of a fight that he was allegedly involved in away from the Octagon.

"He's just not ready".

As much as it may sound like the UFC and McGregor are at odds over his next contract, White insists that he couldn't be happier with the lightweight champion and he's definitely earned every last penny that he's been paid or will be paid in the future. These guys make money and that's it. "We've got to work out this new deal".

"I have to say about this, and I'm wearing my old, veteran crime reporter hat - I have to say that Conor McGregor is in a very unsafe place right now", he said.

"They send people up to Andy's house, and there was a bit of trouble up at Andy's house so I'd say he's only gone up there to say ..."

White attributed McGregor's behaviour in part to the way his life has changed following his rise to prominence and referred to the Irishman's entourage as "cling-ons".

A defence of his lightweight title against interim champion Tony Ferguson seemed like the ideal bout to headline the event.

Conor McGregor has again found himself at the center of a wild plot involving some extremely heavy hitters.

"That's not the healthiest environment". With [McGregor], it's not about "defend or vacate".
