"We have shoes at 30 dollars, other stuff at 25 percent off and everything in the store is pretty much on sale", Hudson says. "We start downtown and go all the way around town".

On Saturday, it was all about small business. "We want to make sure that, you know, this is a team effort for all of us, for any of us we all need a little bit of help. It really contributes to the community".

Saturday's mild, sunny weather is believed to have been a factor in why so many people were out strolling for the best deals. "We hope we do".

"A really good day for small business when we are being bombarded by the big-box stores come out and support your local small businesses instead of Walmart or Target like you did yesterday", Lloyd said.

" It's very important that we support the community they are the people who live here they keep the money and the taxes coming in to Columbus and I think it's important that we spend that money here,"said Columbus Resident Pam Brock".

Twenty seven years later, she is still serving the community.

Gage Blain, visiting from France, said, "It helps because if everyone buys stuff that was made in other countries, the country itself can not rise economically". "So far, it's been double the business for this time of year".

"It kind of morphed from gift baskets and care products to crafts and gift items", she said. "And have fun. Don't take it too seriously".

Eddie James, co-owner of Brownie's, said that numerous store's regular patrons shop there during the Christmas season, but that it's also a time when new customers will buy items for what he called "grand-dogs". "As a store owner, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and happy".
