New Delhi, Nov 14:An Army jawan was killed and a policeman left injured during an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two militants were killed Monday night in a gunfight with government forces in Kupwara district after they attacked a police party in Rajwar area. "He may have done some diploma course, but not BTech", the DIG said, adding that Mudasir had joined militancy in 2015. The soldier later on succumbed to their injuries.

The other trapped militants managed to escape into a jungle area. This resulted in a "brief shootout" in which the militants were killed.

The slain militant, he said, was a B. Tech pass-out and was associated with Hizb.

The police official said that till reports last came in, both the encounters were on in Kulgam and Pulwama.

A spokesperson of the Kashmir police said, "The police, army and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) are on the job". "It was a search operation during which a hideout was busted", he told CNS.

Officials said the authorities have directed all cellular companies to suspend mobile internet services in entire south Kashmir to prevent spread of any rumour on social media. In a second encounter on Tuesday, security forces launched a search operation in the forests of Laam-Tral area in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, after detecting suspicious militant movement in the region. The operation has not been called off yet, Pani said.
