After Alexa 'Ecobee' supports Google Assistant too

How to broadcast voice messages to your Google Home speakers You can now broadcast messages from Google Assistant to your Google Home devices

Google Assistant support comes to ecobee smart home products, expanding ecobee's compatibility for smart home control through digital assistants to every voice platform available that can now control connected devices, including Amazon's Alexa Voice Service, and the Apple HomeKit. Through this advancement, one can broadcast messages through the Google Assistant on his smart home appliances.

Family members can now broadcast to Google Home speakers using Google Assistant. Now you can strategically place Google Home speakers around or wait for their smartphones to be updated with Google Assistant so they can hear your broadcast message.

If you plan to use this new capability, you may want to make sure that you don't have Google Home units in both your office and your home. It's making things smarter, easier to navigate and giving you more control over the devices around you.

The feature which will be rolled out to the US, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom initially, will work from anywhere with a cell connection, The Verge reported.

Known as broadcasting, it saves you from having to shout call your family for dinner or let the kids know they're about to be late for school.

A new blog post entitled "Communicate around the house with the Google Assistant" has been published by Google Home Product Manager, Alex Duong, and Google Assistant Software Engineer, Nam Do. Now the time has finally arrived when one can use this technology. It'll even ring a dinner bell if you say "OK Google, broadcast it's dinner time".

The message that you broadcast will play on all Google Home devices that are signed into the same Google Account. Basically, the formula here is to follow "OK Google, broadcast" with your message after. In other words, you can only send a message through your phone.

According to the company, broadcast support is now available for the English-language users in US, Australia, Canada and the UK.

While that sounds a little weird, it'll definitely be a useful feature to many people.
