The Cleveland Browns gave themselves a shot at their first win Sunday against the Detroit Lions - perhaps their best shot of the season except for going to overtime against Tennessee.

Following the touchdown pass to Riddick, Stafford threw scoring passes to tight end Eric Ebron and wide receiver Golden Tate to create an insurmountable advantage for the Lions.

The tide turned with a rib injury suffered by Browns starting quarterback DeShone Kizer in the third quarter.

The 5-4 Detroit Lions will travel to the Windy City in Week 11 to face a divisional rival, the Chicago Bears.

The first half ended with the Browns running out of time at the Lions' 2-yard line and Detroit still in control 17-10. Linebacker Jamie Collins' interception of a Stafford pass set up Cleveland's first-quarter touchdown.

They rushed for 201 yards and 6.1 yards per carry against a Detroit defense that came into the game giving up just 3.6 yards per carry. And in the big picture, that's what matters for the Lions.

Isaiah Crowell gained 90 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown for the Browns (0-9). Detroit needed just 10 rushes to surpass the average of 84.3 yards per game on the ground allowed by the Browns.

That wasn't the worst part of Cleveland's first-half performance. Before the injury, Kizer completed 15 of 24 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. This team makes mistakes - witness the end of the first half - but it has not quit or given up. Cody Kessler took over on third down and was promptly sacked. He was able to walk to the locker room later in the quarter, but was ruled out early in the second half. Detroit is now 16-4 all-time against Cleveland, winning the last four meetings.

For the most part the defense made the Lions work for what they got.
