McGregor made a surprise appearance last night's event and jumped into the cage after his teammate, Charlie Ward beat John Redmond with a controversial KO. Seconds after Ward won, McGregor hopped into the cage to celebrate with Ward but then he got into a physical altercation with referee Marc Goddard. Last month, as another of McGregor's teammates, this time Artem Lobov, fought at a UFC event in Poland, Goddard asked McGregor to leave the cage area. Goddard stopped the flight and ordered McGregor back to his seat for acting outside the cornerman's restricted area.

McGregor should not have been in the cage under any circumstances considering he was not an official member of Ward's corner. Following the fight, footage was captured of McGregor opening up on the incident and referring to Goddard as a "rat". He became enraged and went after Goddard and was promptly ejected from the Bellator 187 event in Dublin, Ireland.

Since then McGregor has said he will look to return to his usual sport of MMA in the UFC for his next fight, but has left the door open to a future return to the sweet science.

At one point he appears to push Goddard against the cage with the melee lasting for nearly a minute.

UFC president Dana White has released fighters in the past for shoving an official. As outlined by MMAFighting.com journalist Luke Thomas, there's the possibility that other commissions could enforce any suspension handed out, and in a domino effect McGregor could be restricted from fighting anywhere within the confines of the UFC.

It's unclear if he will face any repercussions for his actions.
