Jerry Jones apparently has opened yet another new front in his assault on Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract. As PFW reported this week, Jones may have a half-dozen owners in his corner, while a larger group remains displeased with Goodell but isn't sure how to respond, and a growing faction is furious with Jones over his public handling of the NFL's private business.

National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell is asking for a raise to the tune of almost $50 million per year, a lifetime use of a private jet, as well as lifetime health insurance for himself and his family, according to ESPN.

Now, the commissioner reportedly made that counterproposal in early August, and it's unclear whether the contract the committee intends to discuss includes those terms. One NFL owner said the new proposal is "just too much for Roger" calling it offensive. The two have bickered over everything from his handling of the national anthem protest to his handling of Elliott's suspension, which is finally beginning today.

"Jerry was fully on board with this right up until (Elliott's) suspension came down", one ownership source said. Jones contends that Blank has misled owners about having the unanimous approval of the six-man committee to extend Goodell.

NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said Thursday that negotiations will continue despite the lawsuit threat and that the league has already authorized the committee to make an extension of Goodell's contract. An issue that some owners have with this is a few don't even make $40 million annually, when you factor out the overall value of the team they own.

It really should not be that big of a surprise to these owners that Goodell is asking for an exorbitant out of money.

"I don't sense that at all from him", said a source close to Goodell on whether or not he will leave the job "He has said he's committed to it. He feels there are important issues he has to deal with". Essentially, the only thing that mattered was Commissioner Goodell's opinion on what was best for the league. No one is talking about football.
