Meek Mill Sentenced to Prison Time After Violating Probation

Meek Mill sentenced to minimum two years prison for violating probation Meek Mill Sentenced To 2 To 4 Years In Jail Over Probation Violation

According to Billboard, a Philadelphia judge sentenced the rapper to two to four years in state prison for violating probation in a almost decade-old gun and drug case.

Mill's lawyer has vowed to appeal.

On Monday, a Philadelphia judge handed down Meek Mill's prison sentence after the rapper violated his probation with a pair of arrests earlier this year.

The rapper, a 30-year-old Philadelphia native, was convicted in 2008 on charges related to the possession of guns and drugs, and served eight months in prison.

This update has stirred reactions on social media, and one of those who has shown the rapper support is comic actor, Kevin Hart.

Brinkley imposed the sentence on Mill after he was twice arrested this year.

Both of the 2016 cases were dropped but the Brinkley reportedly claimed the arrests alone were violations.

What came after the judge's ruling was immediate outrage from the rap community, with a number of artists and fans calling the sentence unjust and unfair.

A Philadelphia judge cited a failed drug test and a failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel for the sentencing.

Meek, whose legal name is Robert Williams, pleaded guilty in October to reckless driving for doing stunts on a dirt bike in New York City.

Rap mogul Jay-Z wrote on Facebook that the sentence was "unjust and heavy-handed".

Brinkley has worked with Mill since almost a decade ago, when the rapper was convicted and jailed for eight months and later placed on probation in 2008 for gun and drug charges.

Meek appeared in court in Philadelphia on November 6 for two recent arrests: one for getting into a fight at an airport in St. Louis, and one for recklessly driving a motorcycle through the streets of NYC. Meek has been on probation for a gun and drug charge dated back to 2009. It's the multiple arrests themselves that were considered probation violations.
