In an offer to stop her patient feeling frightened, Olivia Neufelder, an attendant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, ensured she sang Margaret's main tune to her consistently.

Cancer patient Margaret was admitted to hospital in Nashville, US, after her health declined but doctors said she was too sick for a transplant.

But Olivia Nuefelder, a nurse at the facility, did her best to comfort her patient, singing "Dancing in the Sky" by Dani and Lizzy, Margaret's favorite song.

Smith's daughter Megan Smith posted the video on Facebook on Sunday-just three days before her mom passed away. Smith wrote of the nurse. Both nurse and patient were were overcome by emotion.

The video has more than 2.8 million views, 55,000 shares, and 40,000 likes. "You truly are a beam of light and I can not thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother".

'God bless you Olivia! I am so humbled and honored to be a Nurse. Nuefelder, who has been a nurse about a year, said she had never heard of Dancing in the Sky, but Smith told her it was special, so the young nurse memorised it and sang it to her daily to try to "keep her spirits up". "My thoughts and prayers are forever with this incredible family", Neufelder said in a Facebook post.

Neufelder is touched by the response to the video and said it's been a life-changing experience.

Margaret was later moved from the hospital to a nursing home, where she reportedly died on Wednesday.

"I pray this story helps people find comfort through a dark time they may be going through", she told 1010 WINS.
