Karthik, Shardul in; Rahul out for New Zealand ODIs

India vs New Zealand: Shardul Thakur, Dinesh Karthik back for Kiwi ODIs Team India for three-match ODI series against New Zealand Announced

Indian selectors have recalled wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against New Zealand which begins later this month. He (Rahul) will play Board President's XI or the Ranji Trophy. Matt Henry, Henry Nicholls, Colin Munro and George Worker will join the national team after conclusion of the series between India A and New Zealand A. Kane Williamson will captain New Zealand. What's the point in him just being in the squad and not playing? Shikhar Dhawan, who had sought leave for the Australia ODIs to be with his ill wife, also returned to the 15-man squad. While Umesh picked four wickets for 71, Shami went wicketless and conceded at more than six runs per over as Australia amassed 334 runs.

Also, making a return to the squad is Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur, who was a part of the Indian ODI team in Sri Lanka. While he comes into the squad, Umesh Yadav has not been included. Shami has continuously struggled with his fitness and has been left out several times which further declines his confidence, a chance in series like these are a boost to the bowlers who would take it as an opportunity to prove their critiques wrong.

"Todd Astle, Matt Henry, Henry Nicholls, Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips and George Worker will join the squad following the conclusion of the NZ A tour against India A", New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a statement.
