Disney ends development on Jack and the Beanstalk original feature, huge

Gigantic Disney ends development on Jack and the Beanstalk original feature, Gigantic

Variety is reporting that the company has halted development on enormous, an animated refresh on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story.

Both Disney Animation and Pixar have grown leaps and bounds since then, with Ed Catmull serving as the animation studio's president and John Lasseter as its chief creative officer. The project was to feature original music from the Oscar-winning songwriting team of Robert LOPEZ and Kristen-Anderson Lopez.

"It's impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn't working".

Despite Disney's best intentions, they have announced that their current animation project, Gigantic, has been moved into inactive development. We have arrived at this point with the big and, although this is a hard decision, we put an end to its development for the moment. At that time, Nathan Greno-who worked Tangled, Disney's spin on the Rapunzel story-was attached to direct. Dorothy McKim, the director of production behind a ton of Disney films such as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, was on board to produce.

Instead of "Gigantic", the studio is focusing on another project which is now being tabled for Thanksgiving 2020. There, he befriends a 60-foot female giant.

Gigantic, Disney Animation's original feature project that was to have been released in 2020, is being shelved.

If you've ever heard the long and gruelling process The Emperor's New Groove went through, this kind of cancellation should come as no surprise.

On the Pixar side of Disney's animation arm there's Coco, set for November, The Incredibles 2 next summer and Toy Story 4 the year after that. Later down the line, the studio will debut Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019.
