"Blade Runner 2049" crashed at the box office with a disappointing $31.5 million debut over the weekend. "Alcon and Denis made an fantastic movie". There were also two other new films that finished in the top four for the weekend.

Blade Runner 2049 received rave reviews from critics with Flickreel even awarding it a five star rating.

During my conversation with the actor ahead of "Blade Runner 2049's" release I quizzed him about the hysteria that surrounds any possible update to his tenure as the Joker, suggesting that it has to do with the fact that Marvel release 2 to 3 films a year.

The original Blade Runner wasn't a financial success, only making $32.87 during its lifetime at the box office.

The remake of the Stephen King killer clown thriller It has now taken $305m in the United States, and nearly as much internationally, to top the $600m mark globally, making it the most successful horror film.

Domestic Distribution President Jeff Goldstein said "Blade Runner 2049" had fallen short of expectations in mid-sized and smaller markets along with the South and Midwest, where the running time and Major League Baseball play-offs appeared to have held down attendance. "The audience for it was narrower than we anticipated".

"We did well in the major and high-profile markets", he added. The movie was directed by Ridley Scott, who also made the original Blade Runner and was an executive producer on 2049.

Fox 2000 and Chernin Entertainment's romantic-adventure drama "The Mountain Between Us", starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, scaled to only Dollars 10.1 million from 3,068 theaters and placed itself on 2nd position.

The Chinese comedy Never Say Die took $66m globally to top the global box office, pushing Kingsman: The Golden Circle into second place. Focus Features' expansion of Judi Dench's "Victoria & Abdul" came in 8th with $4.2 million at 732 locations.
