When one white supremacist attempted to hit 20-year-old DeAndre #Harris with a flagpole, Harris swung a flashlight back at them.

A Charlottesville police detective verified the victim's story, and a warrant for unlawful wounding was issued.

According to police, Harris is wanted for unlawful wounding; he is accused of attacking one of the men who participated in his assault.

Lt. Stephen Upman says the alleged victim told the magistrate's office, a judicial office, what happened.

Harris' attorney, S. Lee Merritt, said in a phone interview Monday night that Harris was left with a concussion, abrasions and contusions across his body, as well as a head laceration that required staples, a knee injury and a fractured wrist after the clash.

Police said an update on Harris's case will be provided once the 20-year-old Suffolk man is arrested.

Exclusive footage recorded by The Daily Caller News Foundation during the August rally captured the moment at least five individuals brutally attacked Harris with an array of blunt objects.

Harris's accuser has opted to remain anonymous but has been described as a member of the white supremacist group.

According to reports, it is unusual for a warrant to be rendered by magistrates instead of the police themselves.

"We find it highly offensive and upsetting, but what's more jarring is that he's been charged with the same crime as the men who attacked him", Merritt told The Washington Post.

So far, federal authorities have taken no action to identify the man holding what appears to be a 9mm Glock semi-automatic handgun threatening Harris, despite high-resolution photos supplied by Roberts to the FBI.

Harris has said the attack left him with a concussion, a gash on his head that required almost a dozen staples, and other injuries.

Merritt is adamant that his client was not the antagonist in the incident and noted that Harris has plans to turn himself in to the police in the days to come.
