The actress Angelina Jolie offered to act as a honeytrap to capture one of Africa's most notorious war criminals, according to documents leaked from within the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Our colleagues have returned to exchange mail between Luis Moreno Ocampo, the chief prosecutor of the Court criminal global, and the hollywood star.

Moreno Ocampo was hoping to get Jolie and her now-estranged husband Brad Pitt embedded in Uganda with United States special forces troops close to the warlord's stronghold, where hundreds of children have been abducted.

As the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army, which formerly operated in Uganda, Kony is said to have been involved in unspeakable crimes including the abduction and rape of children. Why Jolie and Pitt withdrew from the effort to set a trap for Kony is unclear from the leaked email release. "Let's discuss logistics. Much love Xxx", Jolie reportedly wrote in one email. "She is ready. Probably Brad [Pitt] will go also". The american NGO Invisible Children has sought advice from the prosecutor, who responded that he had to hang in contact with Angelina Jolie: " She would like to invite Kony to dinner, and to stop it ". In a 2010 interview with Nightline, she admitted that she would be tempted to "take down" Kony if she were ever face to face with him. A plan that would have been able to receive the support of Brad Pitt, the couple is still together at the time: "She would like to stop Kony". Can Brad go with you?' There are no other references to the plan in the 40,000 leaked emails, and Jolie has declined to comment.

Jolie had visited the ICC in the Hague, Netherlands in May 2009 to watch Moreno Ocampo prosecute Congolese warlord Thomas Lubanga, People said.

Moreno Ocampo reportedly had his own fixation on Jolie. "I miss you." Kony, meanwhile, is still at large.

The Argentine lawyer is now at the center of a row over his connections to Libyan businessman Hassan Tatanaki, who was closely tied to the brutal regime of former dictator Col. Muammer Gaddafi.

The Sunday Times said, though, nothing never happened despite Moreno Ocampo developing a fixation on using celebrities during his time as chief prosecutor at the ICC until his term ended in 2012.
