The response comes after NBC News, citing unnamed law enforcement officials who NBC said were briefed on the investigation, reported that the gunman, Stephen Paddock, researched possible locations in the two cities. "Major League Baseball and its clubs work diligently with local and federal law enforcement to implement security plans in order to protect fans at each of our ballparks".

NBC News reported that Paddock researched hotels around Fenway Park, according to an anonymous law enforcement official. Officials say there was no evidence Paddock ever went to Chicago that weekend.

The Las Vegas shooter who killed almost 60 people and wounded more than 500 at a concert Sunday reportedly researched locations in Boston. He allegedly picked a hotel room with a clear view of the concert crowd across the street, stockpiled modified high-powered weapons and even set up cameras in and around the hotel suite he did the shooting from.

"That's something that obviously concerns us but right now there's no credible threat that anyone is still out there looking to do anything like that", Evans told reporters on Thursday night.

Both rooms had a checkout date of August 6, corresponding with the final day of the music festival that drew tens of thousands of concertgoers to Grant Park alongside Lake Michigan.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker issued a statement to NBC saying, '"We and many others are fully plugged in on that investigation, and there is no imminent threat to anything in Massachusetts'".

But the commissioner said there's a meeting planned with officials from hotels in the area to talk about the Las Vegas shootings and how to increase society.

There is no evidence Paddock ever traveled to Boston.

Paddock opened fire on a music festival in Vegas on Sunday night, killing almost 60 people and wounding hundreds more.
