In her address to the U.N. General Assembly in NY, on Thursday, she said, "I have come here just after seeing the hungry, distressed and hopeless Rohingya from Myanmar who took shelter in Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh".

At the same time, the country's army chief blamed Rohingya militants for an explosion outside a mosque.

However, according to the Burmese government, atrocities have been carried out by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army or ARSA, a Rohingya militant group, who promises to continued resistance until Rohingya demands for the restoration of citizenship rights within Myanmar are met.

On Friday Amnesty International said new videos and satellite imagery confirmed fires were still ripping through Rohingya villages, scores of which have already been burned to the ground.

Last week, India's government said it had evidence showing that some Rohingya in the country have ties to "terror organisations" and pose a security threat that justifies a mass deportation of the approximately 40,000 Rohingya.

He called for aid to be "rapidly stepped up" and thanked Bangladesh for keeping its border open.

Much of the efforts by the United Nations (UN) to address the recent crisis have been focused on bringing aid to the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.

A Rohingya petitioner on Friday told the Supreme Court that they were not illegal immigrants but refugees who fled Myanmar and came to India for shelter in wake of their persecution on the grounds of their religion and community identity and were entitled to all protection under the global conventions on refugees and treaties.

Monsoon rains worsened already hard conditions in makeshift Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh in mid-September.

The remaining participants were at the level of foreign ministers, Erdoğan said, slamming the "indifference" of the global community on the Rohingya tragedy and calling for "sanctions rather than condemnations".

According to Voice of America, criticism has come from those in Myanmar who believe coverage of the Rohingya crisis has been biased against the Buddhist majority.

India's Supreme Court is hearing an appeal lodged on behalf of Rohingya against the deportation plan proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist government.

"International support is also now being stepped up, under the leadership of the government".

The latest violence began when a Rohingya insurgent group attacked police checkposts on August 25, that left 12 security personnel dead, the Guardian reported.

Rohingya community leaders noted that most of the Rakhine villages near the Bangladesh border are now deserted.
