Melania Trump set to speak at United Nations luncheon

First Lady to UN: 'Step Up' to Protect Children First Lady heads to WH garden for planting, harvesting

It's Melania's first event in the garden that Michelle had made a key part of her "Let's Move!" campaign to fight childhood obesity and promote healthy eating.

The first lady told the children Friday she's "a big believer in healthy eating because it reflects on your mind and your body".

Obama regularly held events in the garden and wrote her first book, "American Grown", about her experience of planting it.

Though her cause was noble and she seemed to be enjoying herself handling fresh fruits and vegetables along with a bunch of children in the garden, it was her "Not So Down-To-Earth" high-fashion outfit that many thought is not appropriate for an outdoor activity with the young citizens. During planting and harvesting events there, she also put on gardening gloves and pulled carrots and other vegetables out of the ground alongside schoolchildren for the cameras. "I would certainly not read anything into that picture anymore than probably, just like the rest of us, we're exhausted trying to keep up with this president who's working hard every day trying to help America", she said.

During the garden activity, Flotus engaged in conversation with the children - aged around 10 - and asked them to "take care of themselves" by adopting healthy eating habits.

Despite criticism, the first lady was seen wearing stilettos again while leaving the White House for a second trip to Texas later that week.

"Nice", Trump said, admiring a large okra. The children they helped her plant a variety of vegetables, including broccoli and lettuce, and the children also picked bell peppers.

As the group planted and harvested, the White House chefs began hand-washing the newly harvested vegetables in ice water bins, so the vegetables can be eaten Friday evening.

Melania Trump's communications director slammed the coverage of her shoes at the time, saying, "It's sad that we have an active and ongoing natural disaster in Texas, and people are anxious about her shoes".
