He urged that the Indian side to permit the UN military observer group in India and Pakistan to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

Acting Foreign Secretary Aitzaz Ahmed on Friday summoned Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale to "condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian troops in Charwa sector, near the Working Boundary on September 21", the Foreign Office said Friday in a press release.

India has told Pakistan that its forces were responsible for ceasefire violations, infiltration and targeting of Indian troops through cross-border actions along the India-Pakistan border, during a telephonic conversation Director-General of Military Operations Lt Gen AK Bhatt had with his Pakistani counterpart, Maj.

Earlier the LoC in neighbouring Poonch and Rajouri districts witnessed repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistan troops for days.

Pakistan and Indian DGMOs established contact on special hotline. They hold talks whenever either side understands the need to iron out differences or raise concerns over issues along the worldwide border of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. "One soldier was injured in the incident", the Army official said.

India highlighted a recent incident when Border Security Force troops fired at armed infiltrators from close proximity of Pakistani posts along the International Border near Amritsar. "Instead of working with sense of objective to address issues, Pakistan resorts to shortsighted tactics of diverting attention", he noted.

Skirmishes across the Line of Control (LoC), the de-facto border between India and Pakistan, have become increasingly common in the a year ago, despite a 2003 ceasefire agreement. "He reaffirmed the sincerity in the efforts of Indian Army to maintain peace and tranquility along the LoC provided there was a reciprocal effort from Pakistan", it said. "This was evident from continued attempts of sniping and targetting of our troops undertaken through cross border actions duly supported by Pakistan Army troops", the spokesperson said.
