Tropical Storm Jose almost stalled off US Northeast

High temps near 77 on Long Island expected Flood Watch Issued as Heavy Rain and Wind From Hurricane Jose Head for NYC

Jose wasn't moving much, however, and that is a trend that is expected to continue into next week.

Tropical storm warnings continue for parts of coastal southeast MA, from Woods Hole to Sagamore Beach, including Cape Cod, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

BEWARE OF MISINFORMATION: As you seek online information on these tropical systems, watch out for "hype sites" and provocative social media posts that only showcase the more dire computer forecast model solutions. Nantucket will see the strongest effects in the area, with rain and the possibility of wind gusts around 50 miles per hour.

However, Jose is close enough to the Northeast seaboard for some impacts through late week.

Here are the peak wind gusts in Southern New England so far with Jose.

Here's a look at the timing and what to expect from Jose.

When the storm is gone, Nantucket will likely have had the highest wind gust because the tropical visitor will get closer to the island than any other landmass.

It is a large storm, with tropical storm force winds extending 205 miles from its center.

Jose is expected to produce additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches through Thursday over Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. While the weekend forecast calls for sun and warm temperatures, with Jose mingling off the coast there is the threat of unsafe rip currents.

Minor coastal flooding covered streets and roads in low lying areas, like the Route 30 causeway, between Atlantic City and Absecon, during the Wednesday morning high tide, officials said.
