Taking a closer look at the all new Griffith, it's design has retained the essence of TVR's older models. As a result, there's more than just character and emotion to discuss, there are numbers, statistics, and specifications - 50:50 weight distribution, 1250kg kerb weight, and a sub four-second 0-60mph time, plus a 200mph top speed and 400bhp per tonne. Built according to Gordon Murray's iStream production methods, this approach claims to slash costs and help speed of development. ABS and a configurable traction control system are also fitted so the Griffith complies with European Type Approval. It too was powered by a 5.0-litre V8.

The 1,250kg two-seater is pinned to the road by bodywork and a flat floor that keep it stable. "It is entirely fitting that TVR, as such an iconic British marque, should unveil what will be a very exciting entrant to the global sports auto market at our iconic British event", says Lord March of the decision to grant TVR this special privilege.

It will also rides on a staggered set of 19×8.5-inch front and 20×9.5-inch rear alloy wheels, and comes standard with bespoke 235/35 front, 275/30 rear Avon tyres, specifically commissioned by TVR for its brand-new model - continuing a relationship between the two brands that goes back to the late 1950s. You'd be forgiven for thinking so, given the (qualified) excitement about the brand's rebirth and fact we've not heard a whole lot since meeting Les Edgar and John Chasey a year ago.

You thought it was a mythical beast, one never to see the light of day again, only to be talked about in private social media channels, but lo and behold there is a new TVR and it's finally been revealed in all its V8-engined glory.

At the same time, drivers must be patient. TVR says that should happen sometime in the second quarter 2018 and that production cars should reach customers early in 2019. That's a year behind the timeframe promised previously. The company had hoped to locate itself within a stone's throw of the proposed Circuit of Wales race track, in Ebbw Vale at the foot of the Brecon Breacons.

But this unfiltered driving experience isn't cheap. A spokesman for the company told Driving: "The "tooling up" of the facility is a relatively quick and straightforward process, so the plans are on track from a timeframe perspective [for 2018]". The new vehicle should prove a lot safer, with all of these features - but TVR promises it uses "intelligent design over electronic driver aids".
