As of 2 p.m., the system was once again out to sea, moving northward parallel to the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas.

The system is forecast to move near the northeastern coast of SC and along the North Carolina coast Monday night and Tuesday.

The system was almost stationary with maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour as of 5 PM Sunday.

An area of low pressure off the Southeast coast has become better organized and it could become the next Atlantic tropical cyclone early this week. The National Hurricane Center says there is a moderate chance it could develop into a weak tropical system.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina has issued a tropical storm watch after low pressure off the Georgia Coast may become a tropical storm as it moves northward towards the SC and North Carolina coast Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely for the Carolina shoreline, especially Cape Hatteras.

A Hurricane Harvey inflicts an historic and deadly flood catastrophe on Texas, forecasters are keeping an eye on another system in the Atlantic that may take on tropical characteristics later.

"The main impacts for the beaches will be heavy rainfall, which will add up to 3" to 6".

The hurricane center expected the system to merge with a cold front in the next few days. The highest amounts will probably fall in North Carolina, east of the line through Robertson, Wayne, and Bertie counties, where one to three inches are possible.

Sunday: Heavy rain and gusty winds are possible from South Florida into coastal Georgia and the southern coast of SC.
