'The Munsters' is getting a TV reboot set in "hipster Brooklyn"

The Munsters: NBC Developing (Another) Reboot with Seth Meyers NBC to Resurrect “The Munsters”

NBC is giving The Munsters another try, with Late Night host Seth Meyers and Jill Kargman, star and creator of Odd Mom Out, heading up the project. Kargman will write the script as well as executive produce with Myers and Mike Shoemaker.

The planned reboot is inspired by the original series and will follow an offbeat family determined to stay true to themselves struggles to fit in in hipster Brooklyn.

NBC has confirmed to Variety that a reboot of the classic television show The Munsters is in development. For those who are familiar with the original series that aired on CBS for two short seasons, between 1964 and 1966, The Munsters is beloved by almost all genre hoppers, which includes horror fans, comedy fans, and people who love great family entertainment. And now, like the similarly spooky TV family The Addams Family who got a series of '90s movies, The Munsters are moving into the modern age. The new reboot of The Munsters goes back to the way it was in the beginning and sets it back to a half-hour comedy, just like it did in the 1960s on CBS.

Universal TV produced the original cult hit, which picked up more fans in syndication thanks to decades of reruns than it did during its three-year run. In addition, the network recently ordered the Meyers-produced comedy "A.P. Bio" to series. This is of course in contrast to the original series, which took place in the fictional California suburb Mockingbird Heights.

NBC made an attempt at reviving The Munsters as an hour-long comedy called Mockingbird Lane in 2012. It also starred Eddie Izzard as Grandpa and Charity Wakefield as cousin Marilyn.

"I won't say we won't do another version of The Munsters again..."
