So, what happened to Rally Cat?

Down 5-4 in the sixth inning to the Royals on Wednesday night, the Cardinals loaded the bases.

A groundsman ran on, chased after the cat, grabbed it and then suffered as the feline scratched and bit him.

The Post-Dispatch now reports that Rally Cat was spotted lounging near the Stan Musial statue outside the stadium, but managed to slip away from the enthusiastic fan who attempted to take her home. On the next pitch, Yadier Molina hit a grand slam that put the Cardinals ahead.

Cardinals security said the cat was claimed, possibly by the Humane Society of Missouri.

As a result of Wednesday's victory the Cardinals are tied for second place in the NL Central, just 1 1/2 games behind the Chicago Cubs. The employee continued on, carrying the feline off the field. After taking the first pitch for a ball, Molina stepped out of the batter's box and pointed his bat toward the outfield where a field intruder was streaking across the outfield.

The cat, which headed for the centerfield wall, was retrieved by a member of the Busch Stadium grounds, identified by KMOX as Lucas Hackman.

One woman, a flight attendant named Becky, was intently searching for the Rally Cat Thursday afternoon in City Garden. She wanted to keep the animal, so she told them it was her cat and quickly left.

"I thought it was a streaker, to be honest", Matheny said.

Fredbird better watch his back, because it looks like the Cardinals may have found their new mascot: "Rally Cat". That's when the fan said it was hers, but now she admits she was just trying to give it a home. "I want it to be safe, whether it was with me or someone else".
