Dolphins wide receiver Landry under investigation for battery

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry is reportedly under investigation for battery, stemming from an alleged incident involving his girlfriend earlier this year in Fort Lauderdale.

The actual truth of whatever happened may be hard to get at, and Landry and the Dolphins are surely hoping the chaos that abounds in the wide receiver's personal life doesn't overly impact matters on the field.

And although she released a statement on Monday stating that she was not "physically harmed" and denying any wrong doing, the Fort Lauderdale Police Dept.is electing to move forward with their investigation.

Apparently, she's not cooperating with police (not entirely shocking given where her money is coming from), but authorities aren't looking to just drop it altogether. She recently filed a paternity suit against Landry in April. After a week of injuries to Jay Ajayi, Ted Larsen, and Ryan Tannehill, this doesn't help the offensive side at all.

Landry and his agent Damarius Bilbo are attempting to negotiate a new contract with the Dolphins organization before the start of the regular season. After the season, Landry was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team for the second straight year.

However, we know fans and sports analysts always react before all the evidence gets presented.

Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase, said the team is aware of the situation, but refused to comment further. We now wait to see what happens.
