White House: Trump 'not discussing' firing Mueller

Russia probe team asks WH for records Christie: 'The President Is Welcome To The Beach House Any Time'
Edmund Wade | 08 August, 2017, 00:31

Within days of that first statement, as more details about the meeting became public, Trump Jr. posted emails on Twitter that showed he took the meeting in hopes of gaining damaging information on Hillary Clinton that would be provided as part of the Russian government's support for his father.

He has the authority to prosecute any crimes uncovered during his investigation, and he was given wide authority to investigate whether Trump or his associates colluded with the Kremlin to win the White House.

"You can't issue subpoenas without a grand jury", Christie told host Jake Tapper.

Later in the interview, Stephanopoulos, visibly frustrated, cut straight to the point: "Bottom line, Kellyanne, does the president commit to not firing Robert Mueller?".

The programme's host George Stephanopolous asked Ms Conway why Mr Trump's surrogates have differing views of the President's involvement and knowledge of that meeting.

STEPHANOPOULOS: That's not what I'm asking.

Mueller kicked off August by impaneling a grand jury to investigate Russia's influence - an indication that the probe is entering a new phase. The president has called it a fiction, a total fabrication to excuse the colossal and unexpected, unwanted defeat of Hillary Clinton. The president's defenders, like New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie, point out that grand juries are a normal process of any investigation. If you like your plan you can keep it, if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor.

Back in June, Donald Trump was still treating the Russian Federation investigation like just another defamation suit, one of a countless number of lawsuits that Trump has been involved in over the years. "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor".

The words that follow "Morning Joe's" "Not her but the words that come out of her mouth when she's spinning, talking about how Bob Mueller has, you know, given to Democrats" defy all credibility.

"Benghazi happened because of a video", Conway said.

The Republican governor also said it was unclear what role Trump played in crafting Trump Jr.'s initial response to news reports about the meeting, which Trump Jr. first said was "primarily" about adoption and its relation to U.S. sanctions on Russian Federation under the Magnitsky Act. "Go tell the families of the four innocent Americans..."

"What about Adam Schiff and Mark Warner, the two Democrats who are in charge of the intelligence committee?"

Now, just because an investigation is indeed very real doesn't mean we know its conclusion.
