The French Champions have had an exodus of players this summer, with Tiemoue Bakayoko joining Chelsea, while Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva moved to Manchester City.

Manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to add Lemar to his squad as he considers him pivotal for next season.

For Arsenal, they could use this bid as a negotiating barometer to orchestrate a swap that involves Thomas Lemar and Alexis Sanchez, which could be the best outcome for both parties.

The Ligue 1 club's hierarchy are keen to retain the likes of Lemar and Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The France winger has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool this week.

Real Madrid are said to be plotting a move for the player but Le 10 Sport claim Monaco will demand £162m for their playmaker.

A fast and skilful player, the France global scored nine goals in Ligue 1 last season but it was in a creative sense that he impressed the most as he laid on 70 chances for his team-mates and completed 84% of the passes that he attempted.

Goal understands that there are still a few details to work out before the deal is done, but that the player wants to sign and will have medicals as soon as Monday. The Catalan club have entered the race after it became clear that Neymar is on the verge of completing a world-record €222m (£198m) transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days.

Lemar now has three years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 champions. "They know that the most important thing is the pitch".
