Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is expecting the upcoming Premier League season to be the toughest of his career as his team prepare to defend their title in an extremely competitive environment. "I'm sure about that".

While laughing, he replied, per the Daily Star's Luke Gardener: "We are trying to buy the players, not to sell them". Only one player is not enough.

The Blues have also signed Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero, AS Roma defender Antonio Rudiger and AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer.

"I think it's right to revisit your season and review it and improve your team and the tactical aspect and the physical aspect ... and to change something".

He said: "Arsenal are a potential rival this season".

"For me, it will be the most hard season of my career", said Conte, ahead of tomorrow's Community Shield match against Arsenal at Wembley.

Quizzed on what answers he had received on this topic in his talks with the board, Conte responded: "We have to wait".

"For the rest, and I can tell my opinion, but then there is a club to make the final decision and every decision is of the club. My task is to put in my work all myself and to try to bring my staff, my players to put in our job everyday all ourselves, to improve". On Thursday, media reports quoted Costa's lawyer as saying the player would formally ask to leave Chelsea following Conte's "inadmissable behaviour" in allegedly telling Costa via text message in June that he was not in the club's future plans.

"I think these are rumours and Eden is very happy to stay with us, to play with Chelsea and to recover from his injury and to start the season with us". We know very well Arsenal is a strong team.

BBC Sport reported the Red Devils paid £40 million to sign Matic on a three-year contract, a fee that, in today's market, could prove to be of extreme worth if it opens up Mourinho's tactical possibilities in midfield.
