He made a 40-minute visit to his Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., and he has made a multi-day visit to Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., to watch the 2017 US Women's Open, unfolding at that club. He played with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who has been an opponent of Trump's health-care reform plans. "I didn't really get distracted".

"I honestly had no idea where he actually was", Lewis said.

One of those US golf courses in close to his Mar-a-Lago private club in West Palm Beach, Fla., and that's where Trump plays the bulk of his golf as President, spending more time of late at his golf club in Sterling, Va., about 20 miles from the White House.

As the motorcade rolled in, there were waves from the crowds and some cheers before the cars carried on out of sight on the sprawling property once used for farming and horse pastures.

"It's not like you have to beat 156 of the best women golfers", Inkster said.

Protests were expected outside the facility after a group from nearby Philadelphia staged a demonstration at the year's first US LPGA event in Arizona. However, Trump was particularly critical of how many rounds President Barack Obama played in office, and so now he looks somewhat hypocritical in retrospect.

Jeongeun6 Lee, who has a victory and 10 top-10 finishes this season on the KLPGA Tour, shared second after posting a second straight 69.

One could keep going down the list and find players capable of winning, including 39-year-old Cristie Kerr and No. 5 ranked In Gee Chun of South Korea, who won this event in 2015 in her first USGA event.

Hye-Jin Choi, a 17-year-old from South Korea who is the world's second-ranked amateur, also was at 6 under after a second straight 69.

Chinese golfer Shanshan Feng told the Times she knew the cheering was not for her as she approached the 15th green, but she didn't know what it was for.

“Our choice is to know in advance, to make sure we have assets in place from counter surveillance units to snipers, and everything we need is in place because we know where hes going, ” he said, adding that personnel can be shifted from other areas of a location if events dictate.

"So, I'm already very happy with what I'm doing and I'm not going to feel any pressure", she said through an interpreter.

Seon Woo Bae was alone in fifth place at 5 under after a 69.

Former champion Michelle Wie of the United States was forced to withdraw from the event with a neck injury, after just one hole of her second round.

Trump's residence at the course sits on more than 600 acres of rolling hills in central New Jersey farmland, where a steady stream of players and fans will be walking throughout the four days.
