Here's Who Will Play Aladdin In Disney's Live Action Remake

Aladdin finds its lead actor in Jack Ryan actor, Will Smith to voice Genie Disney Announces The Lead Actors For Guy Ritchie's Live-Action Aladdin

Disney has officially announced Will Smith will play Genie in Guy Ritchie's remake of Aladdin, along with revealing who'll play the two lead roles. He'll be acting opposite Power Rangers star Naomi Scott who will be taking on the role of Princess Jasmine.

Smith has been cast as Genie, the larger-than-life mystical entity originated in 1992 by the late Robin Williams. Walt Disney Pictures has found success in recent years with their live-action adaptations of films from their animated classics vault.

The casting news was revealed at Disney's fan convention, the D23 Expo, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, near Disneyland. While the studio reportedly had several actresses in mind for Jasmine (including the victor Naomi Scott), Disney apparently struggled to cast Aladdin. Massoud has secured the coveted role of the eponymous street rat turned faux royal, Aladdin.

Will Smith will voice the Genie. While Scott has a singing credit to her name for appearing in Disney's teen musical film Lemonade Mouth, no similar information is readily available for Massoud.

Disney have yet to announce who'll play Jafar. He recently landed his first major role in Amazon's forthcoming Jack Ryan TV series.

Aladdin, which is now in pre-production, does not have a release date but more information is expected to be released soon.
