According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, financial details weren't immediately available.

Simmons is now an unrestricted free agent, meaning the Spurs no longer have the rights to match any contract offer he receives.

Earlier, Simmons' agent, Cervando Tejeda, said the Spurs stopped negotiations so they turned their full focus on signing elsewhere. Thursday was the final day that teams could lift qualifying offers from restricted free agents.

Aside from his scoring, Simmons is also known for his defense, ranking eighth among shooting guards in Defensive Real Plus-Minus during the 2016-17 season.

Simmons made his breakthrough with the Spurs during the 2015-16 season, averaging 6.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in 55 appearances.

While the advanced statistics showed that Simmons may not have been worth what he wanted from the Spurs, he became a fan favorite for his explosive offense and defense. He logged major minutes and gained nationwide attention during the playoffs after Kawhi Leonard sustained an ankle injury, averaging 15.4 points in the Spurs' last seven playoff games against Houston and Golden State.

However, San Antonio's reluctance to take on the two years remaining on center Tyson Chandler's contract (approximately $26 million) resulted in the deal being nixed.
