The song dropped on Thursday morning (July 13), a week after Kesha unleashed another empowering anthem, the ballad "Praying". Kesha herself is in total take-no-sh*t mode, backed by no-less than the sensational group the Dap-Kings, declaring over and over throughout the track that she's "a mother*cking woman!". As she sings on the hook, "I'm a motherfucking woman / baby, alright / I don't need a man to be holding me too tight".

"Woman" was produced by Drew Pearson and Brody Brown.

Fans have been extremely excited Kesha's return to music since her lawsuit against Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald claiming he sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused her for 10 years has kept her from producing new material. Check it out above, and preorder Rainbow, which is due august 11, right here.

There's a freedom and liberation to this song that feels particularly great coming from Kesha, who's been in a very public legal battle with producer Dr. Luke for more than three years. As in "Praying", Kesha again vocally lets loose, bolstered by horns that slink through the song then rejoice in bursts. The good time video was co-directed by the singer and her brother, Lagan Sebert and shot at the Oddity Bar in Delaware.

Rainbow is the long-awaited follow-up to Kesha's 2012 album Warrior. "Because it reinforces how supportive men can be of women AND feminism".

'That day was one of the best writing sessions of my life.

"It was pure raw joy", she wrote of the experience of writing "Woman". She explains that those were born out of her renewed appreciation for her womanhood.

"I wanted this song to capture that organic, raw, soulful sound and keep the imperfect moments in the recordings because I find the magic in the imperfections", she says of the NSFW track.

It was inspired by her 2016 tour with live band, The Creepies, where she began performing straight-up rock shows with no backing tracks or dancers. The pop singer describes the entire creative process behind "Woman", from its conception while stuck in traffic to entering the Dap-King studios to filming the video. The word "motherf-er" appears at least a dozen times in the song, which, until there's a PG-rated edit, will significantly impede its chances at radio. I hope you love it. Thank you for not giving up on me.
