It may seem a bit unusual that Huawei would put out a KFC-branded phone at all, but especially in China, given that KFC is a US brand.

KFC's first restaurant in China opened near Beijing's Tiananmen Square in November 1987.

In a surprise announcement, Huawei and KFC have revealed that they've cooked up an actual KFC smartphone, complete with Colonel Sanders branding and all.

Huawei is no stranger to launching unique special editions of its phones, like it did with the Arsenal edition of its Ascend P7 a few years ago.

For those of you who just can't get enough of the Colonel, KFC and Huawei have partnered up to release what we assume is the first-ever fried chicken inspired phone: the Huawei 7 Plus - KFC edition. The numbers "1987" are also imprinted onto the case, to commemorate the year both KFC and Huawei made their debut in China, reports CNET.

The limited edition model included KFC's mobile app and 100,000 "K dollars" (virtual credits on the KFC app in China).

Everybody loves KFC (well nearly everybody). Puzzlingly this bright red KFC phone dubbed the Huawei 7 Plus doesn't seem to have much in common with the Y7, both in terms of design and specs which are a bit more advanced.

In addition to the design elements, the new smartphone comes with a KFC original theme and an exclusive app related to the fast food chain. So, just like the normal Enjoy 7 Plus variant, this one also comes with a 5.5-inch display and is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
