PrimeFlight subcontracts workers to the airlines.

Hundreds of workers at all three major NY area airports are headed to work Wednesday after a planned strike was delayed, but the threat still looms as talks continue.

At the heart of the dispute is the company's refusal to accept 32BJ Service Employees International Union as their bargaining representative, the New York Daily News reports.

Baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and employees who provide wheelchair services to travelers at Denver International Airport walked off the job at 4 a.m. Wednesday, but it remains unclear whether passengers will be affected.

Workers at Denver International Airport are planning to join those at other airports across the country in protesting against three private contracting companies Wednesday. Many PHL workers including maintenance staff, janitors, and employees who work directly for airlines belong to labor unions.

The workers voted to walk out Tuesday night over what they described as "unfair labor practices" but called off the strike early Wednesday morning.

PrimeFlight hasn't commented on the strike.

The strike is part of a larger nationwide effort for better conditions and pay in airport jobs.
