A BP PLC well on Alaska's North Slope is no longer leaking crude oil or natural gas following a crude spray over the weekend, Bloomberg reported.

The Environmental Protection Agency said a crack in a BP wellhead near Deadhorse sent up mist of crude oil on Friday before it froze over and an initial leak stopped. The spray of crude, along with "minor" oil leakage over the past few days, was fairly isolated and stopped leaking altogether Sunday, according to a statement from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. So far, they report that no one has been injured and no wildlife impacted.

The leakage from an oil well in the direction of the cold arid tundra plains in the north, but the volume of leaks so far is still unknown, the USA news network ABC News reported. The upper leak was the one leaking crude oil and hazardous natural gas, but a safety valve activated and shut that leak off.

"BP is in the process of shutting in a well at the Prudhoe Bay oil field that experienced an unplanned release of hydrocarbon", said Brett Clanton, a BP spokesman in Houston.

BP was behind the worst oil spill in the United States: the 2010 Gulf oil spill.

Most companies are trying to do resurgence here and boost output of all the aging wells to extend their reach to brand-new supply sources.

BP did not immediately respond to questions about how much oil the well typically produces.

North Slope production rose to 565,000 barrels a day in March, its highest level since December 2013.

In 2010, a BP well became the site of the worst offshore oil spill in USA history.

Alyeska Pipeline Service's Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, which runs from Prudhoe Bay south to Valdez, is not affected by this incident and is operating normally, Michelle Egan, a company spokeswoman, said.

A leak of natural gas from an Alaska North Slope oil well was plugged by pumping salt water down the well.
