League Review: Wins for Brisbane and Perth in goal-crazy finale

Perth were attempting to peg back City's superior goal difference in order to claim a home final, while Michael Valkanis' side were hoping to claim an Asian Champions League berth by finishing third.

Milos Ninkovic and Alex Brosque scored second-half goals for Arnold's side to secure a 20th win of the season for Sydney FC, who advance directly to the semi-finals of the A-League Championship playoffs along with runners-up Melbourne Victory.

City suffered a 5-4 defeat in Perth in a wild final round of the regular season but were still able to hang on to fourth spot and earn the right to host Sunday's game at AAMI Park. "It does pose a challenge between broadcast and the crowd because earlier in the Sunday evening is better for families in the crowd".

"If I don't think we can win, I'll go home".

Perth jumped to a 4-1 lead by the 75th minute via goals from Andy Keogh, Chris Harold and Nebo Marinkovic and all of a sudden the Glory looked capable of getting the four-goal win it needed.

"I would be expecting 15,000 (to turn up) given it's an elimination final, given the hype of last week's so called insane game, to see exactly what happens the following one where there are completely different things at play".

"We should be able to select those dates and things that are convenient to us and not convenient to other codes", he said.

City skipper Bruno Fornaroli says the fluctuating game in Perth will not necessarily be a guide to what happens in the elimination contest.

"A home final would have been good for us and we've only lost three games at home this season and two of those were to Sydney so that shows what a home advantage it is for us", Lowe said. "We came over here with a goal to win the game and didn't", he said.

Asked if he thought City could win the title from outside the top two - something no team has done - the Uruguayan laughed.

However, Perth beat City 3-2 at AAMI in round three before the teams drew 3-all in round 12.

Indeed, how much Sunday's goalfest - which tied the record for most goals in an A-League game - stays relevant this week is also another pertinent question.
