The only time the Sharks held a lead in the series was when Karlsson scored in overtime for the Sharks in their 3-2 win in Game 1.

For game four, the Sharks are best off taking a new outlook on the offense. He has now stopped 80 of 83 shots in the Western Conference quarterfinal series. "I don't know if it hit his skate or leg", said Schlemko.

Coming off his first career playoff shutout, Cam Talbot was 2-0-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average in three road starts against the Sharks this season.

The Sharks, however, did giftwrap a scoring opportunity at even strength. "One shot, one block, one bounce".

The Sharks, who haven't scored since Melker Karlsson's overtime victor in Game 1, managed only one shot in the final 1:47 with Jones pulled for an extra attacker.

Edmonton's orange-crush crowd flooded Rogers Place on Sunday to take in a game played more than 2,500 kilometres away.

32 HITS? The Sharks were credited with 32 hits after the first period by the statkeepers in San Jose.

How do you think Connor McDavid has done so far in his playoff debut? "The first 10 minutes is going to be electric".

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night in San Jose.

The Oilers have home ice back and are now in control of the series.

Thornton has been out since April 2 after appearing to suffer a knee injury against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Sharks have been outscored 21-11 while going 1-5 in their last six playoff games with the Oilers. But every game him and Logan play, they're going to get better.

One of the league's hottest teams, the Sharks lost eight of nine games to end March and limped into the playoffs under a cloud of concerns. It was tight and very tense.

"It doesn't matter how well a goalie is playing, you've got to find a way to get to him", Sharks captain Joe Pavelski said.

"It's one game", said McDavid.

"We've still got another level to go to next game", said Thornton, tied for fifth among active players in playoff scoring with 121 points (27 goals, 94 assists).

"The first game in Edmonton didn't go the way we wanted it to, but we've been building off it ever since and we're a pretty confident group in here right now".

The Oilers left themselves in a precarious position by being called for 13 penalties in the first two games.

"Tonight was kind of chess night", said Jordan Eberle. And with that, he backs up the opposition and makes them look off balance.

"We need to take more pucks to the net", Sharks center Chris Tierney said. Of course, McDavid scored a fantastic goal, but his line has yet to fully crank it up.

Edmonton, meanwhile, reached the postseason for the first time since 2006. But top to bottom the Oilers are a club that is starting to resemble a championship caliber team.

Edmonton's deficiencies in the post-season were supposed to be their depth down the middle and the lack of productivity among their bottom nine forwards, but they have shored up their lines and matched up well with the Sharks.

"For guys that didn't have experience, they have experience now", Lucic said.
