Melissa McCarthy's Sean Spicer returns to SNL

'SNL' brings laughs with Jimmy Fallon's Kushner, Melissa McCarthy's Spicer as Easter Bunny Melissa McCarthy rips into Sean Spicer's Hitler comments on SNL as the Easter bunny

Fun fact: Spicer actually was the man under the Easter Bunny's big ears for at least one White House Easter Egg Roll during President George W. Bush's administration.

The opening sequence saw Alec Baldwin reprise his role as US President Donald Trump with Beck Bennett's Vice President Mike Pence.

As the show has in the past, the cold open portrayed White House chief strategist Steve Bannon as the Grim Reaper. "Spicey finally made a mistake", McCarthy's Spicer said.

Fallon arrives in a pair of khakis and bulletproof vest emblazoned with his name after the real Kushner was pictured in a near-identical outfit at a military base in Iraq earlier this month.

Following Spicer's outrageous comments earlier this week where he claimed Hitler didn't "sink to using chemical weapons", it was perhaps too flawless an opportunity for McCarthy's hysterical impression not to make a return. McCarthy's fictional Spicer took offense at being corrected for "every little slur and lie I say", before offering up all manner of anti-Semitism.

It is the third return of McCarthy as the character after she debuted in February and quickly became immensely popular.

"Yeah, I know they're not called 'Holocaust centers.' I know that". "You got me... I clearly meant to say "concentration clubs".

Spicer also raised eyebrows by referring to "Holocaust centres" rather than concentration camps.

After finishing the reenactment of the Passover story, McCarthy issues a clarification on the ranking of history's worst bad guys, which she says is topped by Hitler, Syrian President Bashar Assad, Pharoah "and then I guess chronologically Jews take number four". "They were all like boo hoo, boo hoo what about the Holocaust centers?"

Fallon, host of "The Tonight Show" on NBC and former SNL cast member, returned to host on Saturday in the show's first-ever truly live-from-New-York broadcast - viewers from coast to coast in the USA and Canada could tune in simultaneously to watch the program as a shared television experience.

After using dolls to incorrectly describe the Passover, Spicer ended the conference by trashing the press room in a motorised golf-cart, redecorated as an Easter egg.

Never one to let an opportunity to blame the media slip past him, McCarthy's Spicer quickly pivots the blame back at his naysayers.
