White Sox to Make History with All-Garcia Outfield

Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox- 4/14/17 MLB Pick Odds and Prediction USA TODAY Sports

Willy Garcia, Avisail Garcia and Leury Garcia will be the first outfield trio to all share the same last name when the White Sox take the field against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field in Minnesota tonight. Renteria said Friday he wanted to give May, the Opening Day center fielder who is looking for his first major league hit, three days of work before putting him back in the lineup. His third home run in seven games came against Twins reliever Ryan Pressly (0-1).

Covey allowed five hits, walked three and struck out one in 5 1/3 innings. Cabrera is hitting.258 with two RBIs in eight games this year.

Yankees 4, Cardinals 3: For a stretch Friday night in New York, Masahiro Tanaka looked like the Yankees' ace for the first time this season. However, Minnesota had a losing home record (4-6) against the White Sox last season.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, no team has ever started three players with the same last name in their outfield. Brian Dozier and Jorge Polanco had a pair of hits with a double, while Max Kepler hit a double as well with his lone hit of the ball game. The game was delayed for 35 minutes at the start because of rain.

The outfielders themselves think it's pretty cool. Willy Garcia, Leury Garcia and Avisail Garcia all manned a spot for Chicago from left to right.

This could be a low-scoring series, as the White Sox are second in the majors in team ERA (2.72) and third in opponent average (.202) while the Twins rank fourth (2.77) and second (.196), respectively. Meanwhile, Minnesota starter Ervin Santana has won his initial two outings of the season, including limited Chicago to two hits in six scoreless innings last week.

Twins CF Byron Buxton has been sensational in the field but has struggled mightily at the plate. He hit a line drive in the second inning off Covey that appeared headed down the left field line for extra bases. Santana ranks fifth in the American League in ERA, with just one run allowed in his first two starts.
