World No 3 Ariya Jutanugarn recorded a six-under 66 to share the lead at nine-under, tied with South Koreans In-Kyung Kim, who shot an eight-under 64, and Su-Yeon Jang, who was four-under through 16 holes when play was halted.

Korea's Su-Yeon Jang now leads the tournament at 17-under after also carding a round of 65.

The 22-year-old holds the advantage over Cristie Kerr and Alena Sharp, who are both on 14 under par.

"Everybody says about being in the zone (but) I just kind of stayed out of my own way, which is what I have to do to have a chance tomorrow", said Kerr. "I know this course pretty well and I've had some good success here, so being comfortable and confident coming in just really gave me that start that we've been wanting".

In Gee Chun is two shots further back after the 2015 US Women's Open champion moved to 12 under after a 65.

Top-ranked Lydia Ko, looking for her first win since July, was tied for seventh at 9 under after a 65.

"I actually got some longer range putts to go in, which I haven't seen very often this season".

"Because I had to finish up the second round this morning and play another 18 I was a little bit exhausted", she said through an interpreter.

However, things have been improving the last few rounds, and Ko was pleased with her recent results on the greens. The exception was last year's final round, when a 71 in the final group wasn't almost enough to keep up with Minjee Lee.

Jutanugarn won five times last season and was the LPGA Tour's player of the year.

"Being on the LPGA and having an opportunity to play with these players that I've never had an opportunity to play with is fantastic", said Jang, via a translator.

"You know, I played solid".

The cut came Friday morning at 1 under, with 78 golfers playing on.

Three years removed from being crowned "Queen of Ko Olina", Honolulu's Michelle Wie, will look to start a second championship run at the LOTTE Championship presented by Hershey on Wednesday morning. Lindy Duncan holed out on the 18th early Friday for eagle to make the cut.

Lewis birdied four of her first five holes to get to 8 under early.
