It is expected that South Korean global Son Heung-min will take the place of Kane for the visit of Southampton.

Southampton are the last team to win at White Hart Lane (May 2016) and Pochettino is adamant his players deserve praise after surviving a second-half fightback to tighten their grip on second place.

The South Coast outfit go into the weekend tenth in the table and having won their last two away games, scoring eight goals, so they are sure to make things hard for Pochettino's Spurs on Sunday. I've backed Everton and Millwall to keep things close in Tottenham's last two home games but the sensational form from Mauricio Pochettino's men at White Hart Lane hasn't slowed down.

Tottenham's second followed a series of scuffs by Southampton defenders and a failure to clear properly and, when Steven Davis stamped in to try to take charge of the situation, Alli nipped in on his blindside. "It was good for Toby and Victor because they felt at home from day one and showed the quality to play football at Tottenham", Pochettino said on Friday.

James Ward-Prowse pulled one back for Southampton shortly after the restart, but Tottenham secured a win that puts them 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea in second place.

"It was good", Pochettino said of Son's display.

Janssen has struggled to play well for Tottenham this season and has not contributed much to the team.

In fact, Spurs have not lost when Alli has scored this season in all competitions. This season they have made a ferocious 19.1 tackles per game (the league's third highest figure), 13.8 interceptions and 11.7 fouls, while no other Premier League team has blocked anywhere near as many passes.

The win against Southampton came without injured star Harry Kane, with Eriksen reflecting that the whole team worked to compensate for his absence.

Who will come out on top in the battle of the managers Mauricio Pochettino or Claude Puel?

They are unbeaten in their opening 14 home top-flight league games of a season for the first time since 1964-65. In those nine games, they have managed to score just eight goals and have won just three (W3 D4 L2).

It was a great chance and would prove a costly miss for the visitors as just past the half-hour mark and Tottenham won a penalty.
