Dontari Poe rumors: Agrees with Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons surprised everyone and made it all the way to the Super Bowl.

We start by catching up on the news from the first 5 days of free agency, spending most of it on Dontari Poe and the newly signed Bennie Logan. ESPN reported the deal is for one year and $8 million, with an additional $2 million in incentives.

The Chiefs, in early March and shortly after declining their chance to protect Poe with the expensive, one-year franchise tag, indicated they were open to having him back. Pioli is an executive in the Falcons front office alongside Thomas Dimitroff, the team's general manager. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Poe has gained fame not just for his work plugging up the line of scrimmage but his occasional forays on offense.

The Dallas Cowboys re-signed one backup running back Darren McFadden to a one-year contract worth $980,000.

This past year, Poe had 1.5 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble. Poe played more snaps over the course of his five years with the Chiefs than all but one other National Football League defensive tackle, so he's got a lot of wear and tear. He rushed for 788 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns last season despite missing two games with a toe injury.

The Colts will need to move on from Poe to find more help along the defensive line, but it appeared as if they were already doing that this morning even before Poe's decision was announced.

The Washington Redskins signed free agent linebacker Chris Carter to a contract.
